Our Archon 1980s Video Game T-Shirt is for anyone who loved the game Archon: The Light and The Dark by Free Fall! The game – part chess, part one-on-one battle – came with great pieces such as unicorns, banshees, the Sorceress, the Wizard, and of course, Shapeshifter. Each came with unique powers, requiring a bit of strategy to win. It played on Commodore 64K, Atari, IBM PC, Apple II, Amiga and others. Sequels followed after the success of the original. Archon II: Adept in 1984, Archon Ultra in 1994, and an Archon version for PalmOS in 2003. Archon: Evolution followed.  React licensed Archon and released an iPhone version in 2009, including a second version called Archon: Conquest.

Unrelated games, like Mortal Kombat: Deception, had a Chess Kombat minigame that was very similar to Archon. It was available for Playstation and Xbox platforms, among others.
